Speleology
The Grotta Grande del Vento opened for tourists in 1974 and provides a
chance for a close encounter with the karst environment of the Frasassi caves.
Speleology is more than a sport. It is a method of exploration, documentation,
and scientific research in very distinct, ecologically fragile natural
environments. The region’s speleology groups regularly organise introductory
courses that give people a safe, environmentally suitable approach to this
discipline.
NB: in some cases, entry to the caves may be restricted.

Gommoning (river tubing), Kayaking and Canoeing
The Sentino and Esino
rivers, which run through the Frasassi and Gola della Rossa gorges
respectively, have long stretches suitable for these water sports. As with all
activities in fast-flowing waters, when planning a descent, it is important to
be aware of local water conditions. Difficulty and access to routes can vary
significantly depending on local water conditions.
